| Lotus Notes celebrated its 15th birthday
In 1989, the first Lotus Notes 1.0 was released to the public. Over the past 15 years, Lotus Notes has experienced immense growth with the computer industry. It has constantly adapted to meet users evolving needs and thus matured into the Lotus Notes/Domino 6.5 product used today. Lotus Notes has about 180 million seats worldwide, and the total is up 5 million in the past year. Approximately 1500 customers switched from competitive platforms, mostly Exchange 5.5, to Lotus Notes in 2004.
Lotus Domino 6.5 gained also several prizes in 2004:
- Best Enterprise Collaborative Platform (InfoWorld 6.1.2004)
- Best Network/Server Application (Linux World 23.1.2004)
- Easiest installation, superior security record and strategy (PC Magazines - Editor´s Choice Award 17.2.2004)
- Easiest user administration interface, more built-in functionality than its competitors
